1. NOMINATION FOR ELECTION

NOTICE

ELECTION FOR THE VACANCY IN THE MALAYSIAN DENTAL COUNCIL UNDER SECTION 6(1)(E), 6(1)(F), 6(1)(G) AND 6(1)(H) OF THE DENTAL ACT 2018 & DENTAL REGULATIONS 2021

It is hereby announced that there will be vacancies for following members:

· 6(1)(e) - four (4) dental surgeons from the  public sector,  resident in  Peninsular Malaysia , to be elected by the dental surgeons resident in Peninsular Malaysia

· 6(1)(f) - four (4) dental surgeons from the  private sector , resident in  Peninsular Malaysia , to be elected by the dental surgeons resident in Peninsular Malaysia

· 6(1)(g) - one (1) dental surgeon resident in  Sabah  to be elected by the dental surgeons resident in Sabah

· 6(1)(h) - one (1) dental surgeon resident in  Sarawak  to be elected by the dental surgeons resident in Sarawak

A dental surgeon shall not be elected to be a member of the Council unless–

(a) he is a citizen of Malaysia

(b) he resides in Malaysia

(c) he holds a valid annual practising certificate; and

(d) he has been registered with the Council and practising in Malaysia for not less than seven years.

A dental surgeon shall not be eligible to nominate a member of the Council unless–

(a) he is a citizen of Malaysia; and

(b) he holds a valid annual practising certificate.

All nomination forms should reach the Returning Officer, by hand/ post at the Malaysian Dental Council, E301, Level 3, Block 3440, Enterprise Building 1, Jalan Teknokrat 3, 63000 Cyberjaya, Selangor  OR  through email to  secretarymdc@moh.gov.my Nomination will be closed at 5.00 p.m. on 25 February 2022 . Late applications shall be rejected.

2. ENFORCEMENT OF THE DENTAL ACT 2018 [ ACT 804 ]

The Dental Act 1971 [ Act 51 ] which has been in force since 1972 is repealed on 1 January 2022. It is replaced with Dental Act 2018 [ Act 804 ] which comes into force on 1 January 2022 except for three provisions which will only come into force on 1 January 2025.

The Act provides for the establishment of the Malaysian Dental Council and the Malaysian Dental Therapists Board, the registration of practitioners, the regulation of dental practice and related matters.

The Act specifies only qualified, competent, and professional practitioners to be registered and certified to provide quality and safe dental services to patients thereby increasing the people's confidence and trust in dental services.

3. ACCESS TO DENTAL PRACTITIONERS' INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (DPIMS)

Access to the Dental Practitioners' Information Management System (DPIMS) will be limited to information made available for public information beginning 1 st  January 2022 until the development and migration of the new system for practitioners is ready. Kind understanding on this matter is highly appreciated.

Other applications e.g. copy Annual Practising Certificate, change of address in APC, Letter of Good Standing, copies of certificates and translation of certificates can be made using this  form.
