
Under section 14 of the Dental Act 1971, there is provision for the application and issuance of Temporary Practising Certificates (TPC) for non-Malaysians who wish to practise in The holder of a TPC shall, while the certificate remains in force, be subjected to the restrictions and conditions that may be specified in the certificate, and the practitioner during this time is deemed to be a registered dental surgeon. The Council also has the power to cancel the TPC at any time and the certificate shall thereupon lapse.
Applicants for TPC's shall fall into 5 broad categories:
· Foreign contract officers in government service;
· Foreign lecturers employed in dental faculties of local institutions of higher education;
· Foreign lecturers in dental faculties of foreign institutions of higher education with branch campuses in
· External examiners; and
· Foreign practitioners who visit
REQUIREMENTS
All applications for a TPC must be accompanied by the following documents:
a) Application Form (Form DC/TPC/2-03)
b) Copy of full registration in country of origin.
c) Letter of Good Standing from country of origin.
d) Copies of relevant degrees.
e) Copy of passport.
f) Three (3) recent photographs.
g) Requisite payment (RM 100.00 per venue of practise)
In respect of the 5 categories of applicants mentioned above, additional documents are required as follows:
A. Practitioners for short hand-on courses or exchange
programmes.
· Letter from the local sponsoring company, facility or institution of higher education.
· Letter from the nearest government healthcare facility that will undertake to deal with any dental or medical emergency arising from the hands-on course.

B. External Examiners
· Copy of recognised basic and post-graduate qualification(s).
C. Foreign lectures in dental faculties of local institutions of higher
education.
· Copy of recognised basic qualification.
· Copy of recognised post graduate qualification(s)
· Proof of a minimum of five (5) years experience as a dental practitioner.
D. Foreign lectures in dental faculties of foreign institutions of
higher education with branch campuses in
· Copy of recognised basic qualification.
· Copy of recognised post graduate qualification(s)
· Proof of a minimum of five (5) years experience as a dental practitioner.
E. Other situations (e.g. Mass disasters)
Applications will be approved by the President in consultation with the Registrar.
Applications for TPC must be submitted to the Council at least one (1) month before the candidate is due to begin practice in
