CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the means by which members of professions or professional associations maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills, and develop the professional and personal qualities required of them in their professional lives. CPD requires a conscious commitment by the professional to keep up-to-date and to continuously seek to improve knowledge and competence.
In line with the new upcoming Dental Act, accumulation of CPD points is required for renewal of the Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) or Temporary Practicing Certificate (TPC) to practice in Malaysia. All dental practitioners who practice in Malaysia, citizens and non-citizens, are subject to this requirement, including those who work on a contract basis.
Thus to sensitize the dental practitioners with the idea, MDC is strongly encourages all practitioners to start collecting CPD points from now. The CPD Guidelines Version 1.0 is available for download (please note that the guidelines might be amended if there are any changes to the final Dental Act). If you have any enquiries regarding the implementation of CPD, please contact us for further clarification.
